7/23/2006
The Yonex-Philippine badminton team came short in their bid to get a title or at least as runners up in the US$120,000 Macau Open last Thursday night at the Tap See Multi-Sports Pavillon. After giving the Philippines it’s first two wins in the men’s singles, Wally Fernandez and Christopher Flores bow out to their opponents in the second round of the competition.
Fernandez lost to world’s number 20 of China in the name of To Bao Chuntal in two sets, 11-21, 17-21. While Flores lost to Netherlands fourth seed Eric Pang, 10-21, 13-21.
Eric Pang world’s number 7 beaten first RP’s number 1 Kennevic Asuncion in the opening round.
Kennie Asuncion is almost in her way to get her first win but still failed to get the third set in a duce, 21-19, 15-21, 21-23 to her opponent Lin Chuan of Chinese Taipei in the women’s single main draw. |
